Artist's Description

Fog envelops the landscape on the Great Plains near Denver, Colorado at sunrise. The fog is turned orange and the sky, as always, is a deep blue. The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge northeast of Denver, Colorado provides a piece of nature in what is growing metropolitan area. During and after World War II, the facility was a chemical weapons manufacturing facility and then after the war it was used by private industry for agricultural chemical manufacturing. The area became extremely polluted and a massive cleanup effort began in the 1980. Now, the 15,000 acre site is a haven for wildlife. Colorado may be best known for its mountains but to the east, the state's plains can certainly hold their own in terms of scenery. I have always been drawn to this past of the Centennial State where stunning sunrises and sunsets occur more often than not.

About Tony Hake

Tony Hake

My name is Tony and I am a Denver native, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, an IT manager, a weather geek and of course a photographer. That was followed by an EOS 20D, a Rebel T2i, a 60D then a 70D, a 7D Mark II, 60D Mark II, 5D Mark IV and now two EOS R5s. Those cameras have captured the roar of military aircraft taking...
