Fog envelops the landscape on the Great Plains near Denver, Colorado at sunrise. The fog is turned orange and the sky, as always, is a deep blue. The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge northeast of Denver, Colorado provides a piece of nature in what is growing metropolitan area. During and after World War II, the facility was a chemical weapons manufacturing facility and then after the war it was used by private industry for agricultural chemical manufacturing. The area became extremely polluted and a massive cleanup effort began in the 1980. Now, the 15,000 acre site is a haven for wildlife. Colorado may be best known for its mountains but to the east, the state's plains can certainly hold their own in terms of scenery. I have always been drawn to this past of the Centennial State where stunning sunrises and sunsets occur more often than not.
My name is Tony and I am a Denver native, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, an IT manager, a weather geek and of course a photographer. My interest in photography started in high school and was spurred on by my parents generously giving me my first SLR for Christmas one year. That Canon AE-1 Program took an awful lot of pictures as I dabbled in my then-new hobby. Since then, a camera has never been far from my side. A Canon EOS 620 accompanied me to the Persian Gulf and many other locations domestic and abroad when I was in the military.
