When hanging out at 12,000 feet or so on Colorado’s Mount Evans you expect to find Mountain Goats, Marmots, and Pikas. What you don’t normally see is a big rabbit. On this day however my son and I spotted this big-eared fellow up high in a rock field on the alpine tundra. An unusual find as they don’t normally hang out this high so while the subject is not uncommon, its location was. Definitely happy to have been able to get a picture of it before it took off running.

My name is Tony and I am a Denver native, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, an IT manager, a weather geek and of course a photographer. My interest in photography started in high school and was spurred on by my parents generously giving me my first SLR for Christmas one year. That Canon AE-1 Program took an awful lot of pictures as I dabbled in my then-new hobby. Since then, a camera has never been far from my side. A Canon EOS 620 accompanied me to the Persian Gulf and many other locations domestic and abroad when I was in the military. Nice capture! He sure is big, and his ears are so long, and perked up! Not an easy photograph to get!
