Description
As the temperature climbed and it became quite hot, this female Black Bear cooled herself off by soaking in the South Platte River while her cubs played nearby. The cubs will remain with their mother until it is a year and a half old or so. The American Black Bear is North America’s smallest but most widespread bear. It can be found in 40 states and much of Canada. Taken in Waterton Canyon southwest of Denver, Colorado.
